The Great Northern Hurdles winner Cynic is engaged in the AVaikumete Hurdles, and ho and Marconi represent the best form in the race. Both are suited to the solt going, and may supply tho first two 'places. • In tho Dominion Hack Handicap, six furlongs, Loved One is top-weight. The Marble Arch filly started favourite in tho Maiden Handicap on Wednesday, but was beaten into second place. She did not get' too good a passage, and may do a lot bettor to-day. Amongst the acceptors in the nursery Handicap is the Australian-bred Commission, whom Ellorslie track watchers - say is very smart. ' . Taiamai .and Gazique, winner and runner-up in the big handicap on tlio opening day, are.again engaged, in the same event to-day. Ihe pair will meet strong opposition from Ruatara, lam-a-aroa, and Waiutu, each of whom is receiving a big lump of weight. • In the Welter Handicap, seven fiirlonßc, Matatane is top-weight with 9=t. lOIIj., with an Bst. minimum. The Oaks ivinner is a; smart beginner, and goes well in soft going, so it will not be a surprise to find her installed favourite to-day.
