A SCHOOL KINEMATOGRAPH
Sir,—You refer in yesterday's issue to a kinematograph introduced at the Girls College. Tour notice approves of the introduction of motion pictures-as an aid in education, but adds that "the College authorities have decided to make a charge of sixpence per child for mlmissiori to such animatographed pictures. Tins is not .correct. There is 110 intention .or making any charge when the pictures are used in connection with class work. J.lie only time a charge was made at the Loilce was in connection •with a lecture by an .outside lecturer, who supplied Ins ov-H' machine and films. It is hoped that pictures meeting: the requirements of the schoolroom will bs obtained at a Tery small cost, as the. owners of educational films have already expressed .their interest in the movement and their willingness to assist in sunplying instructive film*' suitable for school'use. If more' interest were shown by responsible authorities in the use of 'm'oviiij? mctures as a powerful educational .factor, the supply of really good, natural, itnfaked pictures of scientific, and other .educational subjects vould be largc-ly increased. There is undoubtedly a great future for the school use of animated photography, ; but Ihe demand at present in- Jiwv «a- \ luml for the right kind of pictures is not great enough to ensure a satisfactory supply.-l am. efc^ > Principal.
