Air.. Edie stressed the necessity for u strong Opposition in view of Mr. Massoy's, .large majority. He criticised the commission pet; up to deal with the cost of living for not" having brought, down something definite to combat high pricos. The Massey Government, lie said, .had not done much, if anything, this direction, and it was high tiute something was done. He favoured a State steamer service, and was against ..the employment; of-indentured'labour He claimed that j the pricc to be paid to farmers for. their wheat was not too high, so far os Tuapokn was concerned. The speaker was accorded a vote of thaifc.
The election takes place next Wednesday, and the contest is likely to be "lose. ■
