The union . asked for a. wage of 3s. an hour and a '■ * working week of 40 hours—eight hours a rlay from Monday to Friday inclusive. Under the old award the wages were Is. ■ 7|il. ,an Lour, plus a bonus of 3|d. ; ' It was decided to take-the agreement |- entered into'recently in -Wellington as ! the-basis of • discussion. It was agreed that tho hours of work should be 44 a i' week—ejglit hours a day from Monday to Friday inclusive, and four hour 9 on !■' Saturday; also that the wages should lo L - 2s. an hour, plus a bonus of 3d. an S hour. It was agreed that overtimo i' should be paid for at the rate of time -" * and a half, "the basis of computation to : fa the' flat-rate wage, plus tho bonus.
