A COMMISSION OF INQUIRY.

The appointment of the Southern rastoral Lands Commission is announced in the Gazette. The commission consists of Messrs. It. T. Sadd, Ola so Commissioner of Crown Lands, W. B. Jhiek'liiirst, L. Cockayne, I). Jardine, R. Scott, A. M'lnnes, and C. Todd. Its task is to investigate the tenures of Hie pastoral Crown lands in Canterbury, Otagu, ami Southland, and determine if they are in the best interests of Iho State and of the tenants.
