EXPLOSION IN MELBOURNE

A great gasometer in South Melbourne, containing three million cubio feet of gas, exploded this forenoon with tremendous force.' The flames leapt to a exeat height. "Windows were smashed and houses shaken in the neighbourhood, but beyond the collapse of. the gasometer no very serious damage was d(.n» F It}' employees were at work. They and residents of the neighbourhood escaped, excepting six, who suffered burns, which are not of a serious nature. —Press Assn.
