* N.Z. UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS. To-day will see the Basin Reserve the Bcene of still one more amateur atbletio meeting this season, when tho representntives of tho four New Zealand university centres will meet in contest for the athletic shield and championships. Tho sprint events are expected to be very evenly contested and, with the exception, of Davidson and Wilson, Now Zealand's best short distance men will participate. Many will remember Wilson, tho fast Auckland representative three-quarter, and Davidson, the Wellington College footballer of a few season's ago, as being above the average runners. The hurdle events, particularly the 120 yards distance, should produce some excellent competition, as included in the representatives nro Stewart, of Auckland, who hoids tho Now Zealand university record of Msec Treahy, of Dingo, wno is Iho leading hurdler of his district and the piesent champion: Jackson, the local man, who has adopted the. 614110 stylo as Wilson, has greatly improved recentlv, and is expected by his supporters to win this event. J. Olpheit, of Auckland, can always be expected to ran 0 good half-mile and mile, and should extend all-comers in those distances. In addition to a full programme of championship events there will bo 120 yards, 300 yards, and 1000 yards handicaps for local amateurs.
