AUCTIONS. | ' . • 1 ' j t v t x,* j "RUFUS," 1731 (Imported). Plioto.taken luiy., m. GREAT SALE OF BUSHY PARK STUD HEKfOtD CATTLE On FRIDAY,- APRIL 9, 1920, at 10 a.m. At Wanganui, 011 the above date, Messrs. Williams and Kettle, in conjunction with Messrs. J l . R, .Tackson and Co., Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., and Messrs. Smith, Webster and Co., will sell by public miction at Jackson's Saleyards, Wanganui, a magnificent lot of Stud Hereford. Cattle, the property of I'rauk Moore, Bushy Park, Kai Iwi, comprising approximately:— 70 STUD FEMALES of various ages 30 HIGH-CLASS STUD BULLS by those including a good man/ of the famous greatsires "Rufus" (imp.), "Mansel Jack AMETHYST Strain. Tar" (imp.), " Electrician," etc. ' _ _ There will also be offered the niarvellous Stock Bull "Rufus" (imported). This great sire is just now in h'is prime, and it is very doubtful if any sire in the Australasian Colonies can approach his record for average pi'ico obtained for bulls by him.'" He has proved a veritable gold mine, and will still continue to do so for whoever is fortunate enough to purchase him. , His stock are remarkable for great constitution, size, bono, quality, and rich dark mellow coats. The salo of a large area of country has caused this substantial reduction of the Rushy Park Herd, and it is with ■ very keen regret that it has been decided to part with "Rufus." But tho future sizo of the Herd will not justify the retention of both "President Wilson" (imp.) and ".Rufus" (imp.). Among the Stud Bulls to be offered are some really splendid animals, which include:— "COUNT RUFUS," calved July 28, _1917, by "Bufus" (imp.) from "Cynthia 22nd." This is a truly grand individual of immense size, and beautiful quality—in fact, he is the exact counterpart of his size in every way. His coat is rich, dark, and curled from end to end. In- his dam's pedigree "Colonist" (imp.), "Ensign" (imp.), "Statesman," and "The Grore 3rd" are represented. "ROYAL NAVY," This lovely yearling is a son of "Mansel Jack Tar" (imp.) from "Park Regal 2nd," who is a daughter of that fino cow "Regal Ist," by "Ensign" (imp.) from "Regal Daisy" (imp.), Through his dam a wonderfully successful combination of blood'is introduced, three of the greatest sizes of all time, "The Grove 3rd," "Sir Thomas/' and "North. Star" appearing in her pedigree. "Royal Navy" gained first in Yearling Class at last Wanganui Show (1519),' also First and Champion at Masterton this year. "Royal Navy" is a low-set bull possessing remarkable timber, great length and , thickness, and deep, rich, dark curly coat. Theso two bulls alone are worth a pilgrimage to see, and there are many others nearly, if not quite, as • • good. . Thoso who attend the sale are assured that a highly attractive and choice collection of both sexes of Herefords will be placed before them. The progeny of "Mansel Jack Tar" (imp.) are distinguished by their beautiful dark curly coats, size, and length of quarter. ' ' Most of the animals to be offered are eligible for entry in English and American Herd Books. All the above cattle ' will be in grand condition. They have all been tied up and carefully handled, and almost without exception possess v that fine kindly disposition 60' valuable in a beast intended for fattening purposes. ' As illustrating the highly profitable property a really good Stud Hereford Cow proves, it may be mentioned that the male progeny of one cow in the Bushy Park Herd realised 1001 guineas, whilst .die now has also a fine bull calf at foot. She herself is only 10 yeaTs old, and her daughter is one of the best cows in the herd. The male progeny of another cow made. 7CO guineas, and she has a fine yearling bull still to be sold, also a grand heifer at foot. The latest acquisition to this Herd is that most impressive sire 'President Wilson" (imported), purchased at Mr, Levett's dispersal sale for, 2220 guineas, which is the highest price ever given in Australasia for a Hereford. ALL THOSE TO WHOM CATALOGUES HAVE BEEN POSTED ARE REQUESTED TO BRING THEM TO THE SALE. ... Remember the Date: FRIDAY, April 9, 1920. PR Ate- Iwi "Sid" *Willlil ifllll/illj Wanganui,- N.Z.
