A very quiet v.txldisi.c took place in fit, Andrew's Church, Wellington, onMarch 30, when .Miss Olive Harding Young, eldest, daughter of .Mr. and Mr?. Kobert E. Young, Nelson Street, Eeilding, was married lo Captain lioyden Copcland, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Copoluiid; Kelhurn, Wellington. The bride was attended liy 'Miss Margaret Hill, Eoilding, and. Mr. Horace Bass, of London, brother-in-law of the .bridfgroom, was best man.' The ceremony \,as perfon'ned by the Ifev. Hobprlson Orr.
On Wednesday, March 2£ at St. James's' Presbyterian Church, Miss Belle Mason, daualiter of Mr. and Mrs. (j. J). Mason, Wellington -South, was married to Mr. J. Einlay, of Dunedin. The Itev. Wi Shirer performed the ceremony, and Miss .Tones was at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of white eolienue, her embroidered' tulle veil being arranged with' sprays of orange blossom. She carried n-beautiful shower "bouquet of white roses and maidenhair fern.: The bridesmaid, Miss Isabel Eer!;u=on. wore a cream dress trimmed With lace, and-a hat of fawn er'epe to chine lined with shell pink. Her bouquet was of pink roses ond maidenhair.fern. ■ .The .best mini was Mr. Frank Mason. ■ The bridegroom's present to'-the bride was a" gold wristlet wntch, and to the. bridesmaid a pearl brooch. The brido's mother wore a 'Mark satin dress ond panne velvet hat. A reception was held at St. Thomas's Hall, after which Mr. and Mrs, Finlay left for the south, en route to their future home : n Dunedin. On the Saturday preceding the wedding, the bride was entertained at-a hitchen tea given-by Mrs. P. C. Lnsford, of Seatoun, when many useful kitchen utensils were received.
Mrs. Arundel Napier, C.B.E. (England!.. who lias been visiting relatives in the South Island, leaves shortly on nor return to England..

The pnptts of Queen Margaret College held their' first year's sw'mininc sports in tlie Te Aro Baths on Wednesday morning. Despite the lateness of the season there wa's ? good number of entries, and the races were well contested. The senior championship was won by Evelyn CJaridge and the junior by Eua Radford. A number of parents and friends" of the girls were present, and all enjoyed the mormng's outing. Jfrs.'F. Mackenzie and family(Bawke'sBav) left yesterday hy the Mnnuka forSydney. Mrs. Mackenzie intends spending the next six. months with, her mother, Mrs. F. Conper, Darling Downs,. Queensland 1 . Mrs. De Castro, who has heen spending, pome week" with Mrs. F. Mackenzie, Hawke's Bay, returned to Wellington yesterday. Lady Russell arrived in Wellington yesterday from Hawlce's Bay, and will spend Easter- here. Mrs. Milne (Mnsterton)' is spending the Easter holidays with her 6ister, Mrs. F. Canieron, Hastings. Mrs. Ramsden and family liave returned fc> Masterton from Lyall Bay, where they had been spending several weeks. Mrs. C. French, of' Perth._ Western Australia, is at present staying with friends in, Mnslerton. Mrs. French was better known, perhaps, as Miss Billio Wilson,, the. clever little soubrette of the original English' Pierrots. She retired from' the stage'upon her marriage, and her home is on a sheep station some seventy miles from Perth. The marriage took place in St. Michael an l All Angels' Church, ICelbnrn, on Wednesday, of Miss Mary Mellor, eldest daughter of the lat° Mr. A. 11. Mellor and'Jlrs'. Mellor, of Greymouth, and Mr. Hubert 11. Daniell (late lieutenant 3rd N.Z.R.H.), fourth sou of Mr. C. E. Daniell, of Mastertoii. The Rev. A. W. Payne performed the ceremony. The brid-) wore a frock of cream chnnneuse * and georgette with veil and orange blossoms, ami carried a lioutinet of pink and while rose? with traces of clematis. Miss Dorothy Mellor and Miss Marjorie Daniell were bridesmaids, and woro frocks of pink crepe de chine with . black picture hats. Their bouquets were fastened with black ribbon streamers. ! Mr= T. E. Mellor gave his sister away, i Mr. 11. Keesing, of Wanganui, was best ' man, and Mr. J. M'Eldowney groomsman. Wedding at Carterton. The Presbyterian Church, Carterton, was piettily decorated for the marriage on Wednesday of Miss Margaret Sutherland Grant, eldest daughter of Mr. A. S. Grant, of "Furnhum'," Carterton, who is well known throughout the AVaira-l-apa, to Air. Francis Eihvard Beaufort, poll of Airs. Beaufort, of Pahiatua, and the late All-. .1. W. Beaufort, C.E. The Rev. E. ,T. Tipler performed the ceremony, many friends from Gladstone and Carterton being lKflsent. Airs. A. Phillpotts played appropriate music, 'l'lio bride, who was given awnv by her father, wore a frock of cream crepe de chine and georgette, with an embroidered veil and oiauTO blossoms, and curried a bouquet of chrysanthemums, roses and maidenhair fern. The bi-ide.-unaids were the Missos Janet Grant (sister nt. tiie bride) and Margaret Stevenson (coim sin), of Kaitawa. both wearing frocks ol 'shell pink cvene de chine and ninon trimmed ivilh "silk frinse and hat* of biscuit-coloured suede cloth, with feather trimming, and touches of ehell pink. Their bouquets were of pink chrysanthemums < and. asters. Mr., Hector Al'Guilkin (Pahiatua) was best man and the groomsman Air. Hector Adtvms, also ,of Pahiatua. After the ceremony, Mr. Grant, assisted by. Miss Steel, of Wellington] (aunt of the bride), entertained the guests at "Farnham." Miss Steel wore a navy blue costume with grey squirrel furs and a br'onzc-shaded hat with touches of blue. She carried a bouquet of shaded pink roses and maidenhair fern. Airs. • Beaufort, the bridegroom's mother, was also in navy blue, witli bear furs and black hat with touches of violet and cerise. li'er bouquet was of heliotrope asters and maidenhair. The guests included many relatives and friends, among ■ the former being Mr. and Mrs. AA T . Allen (Wellington). J[r. A. C. Holms, Deputy-Mayor . of Featherslon, Aire. A.. Stevenson (Kaitawa), Airs. Beaufort, left for the north, the latter wearing a-, grev check costume, grey velours hat with blue trimming, • and silver fox furs. The bridegroom had been a member of tlie N.Z.E.F., and ; had been awarded the Military Medal. Marriage at Hastings. _ . The marriage took place in St. Matthew's "Church on - Wednesday, of Jliss Jlelen Rolstcn Richmond; only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Richmond, Hastings, and Mr. Ernest Donald Couper, son of Mr. and Airs. AV. A. N.. Couper, of Havelock North. The Rev. J. B. Brocklelnirst performed the ceremony, the service being fully choral, and a great many friends and relatives were, present. The bride, who, was given away, by her. father, woro a beautiful gown of Honiton point laco and ivory brocade, the court tiain of brocade and 6ilver tissue being caught together near the end with tulle and silver ornaments. . Her embroidered veil was fastened with orango blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of : white ■ roses ami dahlias'fastened with brocaded streamers ornamented with silver posies. The bridesmaids were Miss ; Gardiner (cousin of • the bride), from Christchurch, and Miss Toinbleson, .who both wore frocks of ivory georgette with: silver tissue and hats of ivory georgette . silver tissue and hats of silver tissue lace with ostrich feather trimming. There were also in attendance two little flower girls,. Alollie Donnelly and Alix Rochfort, who woro quaint frocks of ivory ✓rcpe do chine and lace with Dutch bonnets of tulle and silver wreaths. The . bride's train was carried by two small pages, Jimmy Stead and Colin Kirklev, who were dressed in white satin suits with- ruft'les. Bouquets to harmoniso with their frocks were carried by., the bridesmaids, and the flower girls carried baskets of. rose petals'decorated with;.bro- > • faded ribbon • and tiny posies. Mr. T. Richmond wits the test mail, and Air. C. .-Donnelly (cousin of the -'bridegroom) groomsman. Airs. Richmond wore a gown of cream ninon draped with electric blue crcpo de chine and fringe, and a leghorn hat wreathed with flowers. Mrs. Couper, the bridegroom's mother, wore a frock of heliotrope satin over black' lace an 1 a hat trimmed with violet and- lieiio- ; trope ostrich feathers. A reception wns afterwards held at the residence of the bride's parents, and later Air. and, Airs. Couper left for AYellington en route'for Australia. The bride travelled m n i nigger brown gaberdine costume trimmed wit.'i wool embroideries and a small brown toque.
