The Prime Minislsr is making good progress towards complete recovery. He is transacting a good deal of public busilidss. but- lie is not yet attending his office. This lie may be able to do in the course of a few days. .
The Hon. D. H. Guthrie, Minister of Lands, is speiidint his Easter holidays al. his home in I'eilding. He will return to Wellington oil Tuesday.

Mr. I'iank H. Taylor, Assistant-Con-troller of the Imperial Supplies Department has been appointed to an import; ant position in the Gisborne 1 armors Frozen Meat and Mercantile Company, Ltd. Ho will leave Wellington for Gisborne, on April 22.' •
Tho death occurred on Wednesday-at HaVelock North of a pioneer 6ettler, Mr. Hugh Campbell (states a Press _ Association telegram). He was born in Kirkcudbrightshire in 1853, nnd came to New Zealand when twenty years old. He was employed on Russell s Olipua estate, near Timaru, and a lew years later removed to Hawke's Bay, and became manager of -Thomas Tanner's' estate, and later Watt's Longlands estate. Then lie, himself became a land-owner in Hawkos Bay, - and a few years ago became interested in a, large block of land in the Waikato, tie took an active part in local affairs,, and was a prominent mem ber of the A. aud i'/ Society. Ho was • one of the founde:s of lona College, and gave the land on whicl» the building stands. ITe ivas twice married, and. is survived by a widow and three Hons and two dauglitei-5. Two other sons were killed in the war.' ' A. Press Association cable message from London announces that Mr. Charles Allen Wray, once a New Zealand Magistrate, has died at Bournemouth.
