ENTERTAINMENTS

* "WITH SIIACKLETON TO THE ANTARCTIC." The fascinating and wonderful series of pictures filmed .by CanUin Frank Hurley while with Sliuckleton's polar expedition were again screened at the King's on Saturday. These pictures, which of their kind surpass anything yet screened, are not only of great beauty and absorbing interest, tut are in addition of no ordinary ■ educative value. To meet the anticipated heavy attendance of school children the management has decided on a matinee, exhibition every afternoon this week. Anotlie- film on the programme, "The Voice of Gladness," a. poetic idyll, is worthy of special mention. In point of beauty of conception and, particularly in the first half-dozen scenes, skilful and artistic execution, the series is a pure delight. The minor pictures, including the latest Gazette, are all of an entertaining nature. As usual, the numbers of the King's Orchestra, which included Grieg's "Peer Gynt" suite, were greatly enjoyed, while the four vocal numbers contributed by Air. Rupert Jleates earned their share of the applause.

EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. Bryant Washburn, who is featured in "All Wrong," which is Bcreennig at Everybody's Theatre, is seen as a young nun who is engaged to be married but has very novel' ideas regarding married life. He wants to continue the courtship, and this leads to all sorts of complications. The supports include the latest Gazette, a comedy, and an exceptionally entertaining travel, study.

EMPRESS THEATRE. Hundreds were turned away" on Saturday night at the Empress Theatre, where Madgo Evans is appearing in a sevenpart comedy-drama, under the title of "Home Wanted." The story is full of amusing situations, with here and there a pathetic seen''. Particularly fine is Michael Hanlon -as tho freckle-faced "Spotty" with ,his faithful dog. Tho fifth chapter of "The Man of Might" is being shown this'week, and i; full of punch from start to finish. Two very interesting Gazettes arc also on tho same bill. ,
