ORGAN RECITAL

V The City Organist, Mr. Bernard F. Page, gave a recital in the Town Hall on Saturday night. A very pleasant programme was presented. It opened with the Borowski Suite (No. 1), a composition that contains much beautiful inelody and swinging movement. Then came Lemare's "Summer Sketches," divided '•nto a scries of parts, "The Dawn," "Tho Bee," "Tho Cuckoo," "Twilight," and "Evening." This delightful number is full of the joy of life and tho spirit of sweet tilings. Then came a bracketed number by lHiiknff. "Hininturv," Op. 30 (No. 2), and "Danse des Odalcsques," Op. 2 (No. 3). The first part was completed by Cesar Franck's piece in C Sharp Minor (Op. 20), a sixty-year-old work that is r'ch in melody and restrained emotion. This prayer -'s one of the greatest of Cesar Franck's works. In tho second part, Mr. Pago gavo two Wagner compositions, the "Prize Song" from "Die Moislersinger," and the idyll "Siegfried." The "Prize Sonj" has been a particularly popular number at other recitals, and 'it was repeated by request. The idyll, composed by Wagntr after the birth of his son Siegfried in 18CD, is a song of peace and happiness. The next recital will be given on Good Friday.
