At a dinner to naval architects, Sir Thomas' Mackenzie (Now Zealand High Commissioner), in proposing the toast of the Mercantile Marine, descr.'bcd tho Otaki's tight with the Moewe. At tho close of the speech, Rear-Admiral Sir Willinm Nicholson rose and .'lmounccd that in view of the splendid action the ship fought against the Moewe, the Ad--miralty had decided to namo a warship tho Otaki. The Shipping Controller paid a tribute to New Zealand's consideration in presenting its requirements for shipping, making the Controller stretch tho Domi non's allowance of tonnage to the utmost. He deeply regretted that Sir Thomas Mackenzie's term of office was <<|uSng.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
