WELLINGTON UNION
ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES
The annual meeting of delegates to the Wellington liugby Union was Held in the Chamber of Commerce last night. Dr. \. K. Newman, M.P., president ot Hie Union, occupying the chair. Some discussion arose over an application by the St. Thomas's Club lor alhliution with the union. ' Mr W H. Donovan (Petone) raised objection to the affiliation of new clubs unless, it was assured that there would bo no danger of breaking up other clubs. It was pointed out by several delegates that there were clubs m 'the Wellington South district which the St. Thomas's players could join, therefore they contended that tho application should lie opposed. ■ It was decided to refuse- the ainlmtion of the club. Two other new clubs, Upper Hutt and Miramar, were granted affiliation. On the motion of- Mr. W. F. Hormg (Oriental), seconded by Mr. 0. Kember (Wellington), the report and balancesheet details of which have already been published in The Dominion, were adopted without discussion. Officers were elected as follow:—Pre:idcnt, Dr. A. K. Newman, M.P. (reelected); vice-presidents. Colonel G. F. C. Campbell, C.M.G., Dr. P. F. M Evedy, Messrs. J. P. Firth and E.'O. Hales (reelected); vice-president to New Zealand liugby Football Union, Colonel Campbell (re-elected); delegates to New Zealand Rugby Football Union, Messrs. J.: H. Lynsky, IV. Perry, A. J. Griffiths,' J. I'r.endeville, and W. F. Honiig; Athletic Park trustees, Colonel Campbell, Dr. Newman, and Mr. E. Wyhe .(reelected); lion, auditor. Mr. 0. Kember (re-elected); hon. treasurer, Mr. G. F. W Jackson; executive committee, Messrs. A. J. Griffiths, J. T. M. I'ilci, J. Prendeville, E. Perry, H. Buck, W. F Honiig, J. N. Millard, W. H. Donovan and W. W. Cook. In thanking delegates for his re-elec-tion to tho position of president. l)i. Newman referred to the very successful season last year, and said that the prospects for this year were very bright. The finances of the union were very satisfactory, aud they all could look forward to a good future for Eugby football. Mr. 0. Kember, on behalf of the Wellington Club, presented to the union a silver cup for competition in the junior grade. The cup, he said., was presented in memory of the late Mr. D. D. Weir, whose services on behalf of Eugby football would ever be gratefully renumbered. The Hutt Club, which won (ho junior championship last season, would be the first holders of the cup,
