Class is well represented in the various events, and the meeting should be a successful one. . The Scott Memorial Held has several horses engaged that have important raceß to compete in at Easter, but as no penalties will bo incurred the contest should be an interesting one. Bindlc, 3st. 121b.,, who 1b to go on to Ellerslic after the meeting,' may bo tho public selection Endure, Ngalionui, and Lepanto will all be in tho market for the Hack Hurdles, but the former, who hails from iordoll, will be the best seasoned. A likely sort amongst the lightweights is War Mar. who has only got to improve a trifle in her jumping to be useful,at the hurdling business. „ , '_ ■ ~ In the Carnarvon Hack Handicap the field is headed by Euddy and Nursing Sister, both of whom are enea.ged in the Scott Memorial Handicap. Nursing bister is a likely starter in this race, and will be ridden by A. Oliver, but Euddy may contest tho shorter event later in the afternoon.. Hepta has lub Napier for.ra to recommend him, and he and Nursing Sister may be the best supported of. the runners. ■ , ' ' , '.. ' ' The Napier trained Lovematcli will luuo plenty of admirers in the Eangitikci Cup. The Martian mare is well seasoned, uiid her form at tho Napier Meeting; was distinctly encourafjine. The small field today will suit her. Nobleman may finish in'front of the remainder. The biggest field of .the day will oh engaged in the Hack Welter Handicap. Horses that have shown winning form lately are Eisingham, Valencia,.and Qmniro. To-day may find, the last-named well in the market. ' The Open Welter Handicap field is headed bv Prettv Bobby, 9st; 1111). Amonwf the others is Zola. Bst. Mb., who was successful in the Bamo event; twelve months ago with one pound less in tho saddle. Zola is a very useful horse, and tlm field is not a strong one. If Euddy is started in. the : Nga wpa Hack Handicap he will command plenty of support, but tho favoiirito may be Hon. who is the possessor of a lot of paco and was a winner at Danncvirko. He has been penalised 101b. for his succcsb, winch will enable H. Gray to have the mount. • There is a good entry for tho Trial Plats but as all the contestants are re•quired to carry 9st, there will likely be a big defection The best known of the likely starters nre.Emnyrean-and Miss Koivma ' who has been purchased -bv a West Coast sportsman irom Mr. G. D. Greenwood, is now a member of B. liongley's Eiccarton team. The secretary of the Wellington; Hac og Olub calls attention to the fact th.it tho Pacific Handicap (the fifth race on Ju second day of the club's Autumn Meeting) is for two-year-olds only.
