AMERICAN LOANS TO ALLIES
REDUCTION IN INTEREST RATE v ADVOCATED. .{Bee. March 23, 8 p.m.) ~ Washington, March 20. Mi\ D. F. Houston (Secretary of tho Treasury) advocates a reduction in the rate of interest on American loans to the Allies from 5 per cent, to i\ per cent, and deferment of payment of interest for three years. He also suggests conversion of the loans into bonds, with a currency of twelve years, deferred interest to be compounded.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
