The Anzao Club, Featherston, was tho scene of a largo and enthusiastic gathering of e.iHzens and settlers on Wednesday night, when the Mayor' (Air. J. W. Card), who is leaving on tho Mcgantic for the Homeland, and the Mayoress (Miss Card) were .entertained and presented with expressions of esteem and good will. The Deputy-Mayor (Councillor A,. C. Holms) mado the presentation of' an illuminated ndrtrcss to Mr. Card and a silver tea service suitably inscribed to Miss Card, who.se work as secretary to the Patriotic .Committee was specially mentioned. For nearly twenty-four years Mr, Card has been n leader in the'nublic life of the district, and Miss Card nrominent in social efforts. Mr. A. D M'Leod, M.P., endorsed tho sentiments briefly summarised by Mr. Holms. A dance" to nleasinsr music provided by the South Featherston Orchestra and several first-class concert itoms formed part of this function. The Bi'hop of Oxford has made Dr. Dnrwe.ll Stone, Principal of the Piisey House, an Honorary Canon of Christ Church. A sure and pleasant specific for removing Worms is WADE'S WOEM FIGS.
