NURSE CAVELL
STATUE IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE. London, March 17. Queen Alexandra unveiled a statue of Miss Edith Cavell in Trafalgar Square on the island site where Gordon's staluo stood prior to its removal to Khartoum. The statue was erected with subscriptions collected through the "Daily Telegraph." It is cut out of white marble and shows Miss Cavell standing erect in a nurse's uniform. There was a distinguished English and Belgian gathering at the ceremony. Queen Alexandra, in welcoming the Belgian delegation, drew attention -to the blending of the British and Belgian flags on the status as symbolical of the perpetual friendship of the two nations—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
