ISSUE AT PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OPPOSED STATEMENT BY MR. BRYAN (By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright (Rec. March 18, 7.25 p.m). Washington, March 17. Mr. William Jennings Bryan has issued a statement 6trongly opposing the injection of tho Treaty into the Presidential election, which he declares should he fought only upon big domestic issues. He states; "I Tofuso to'believe that any considerable number of Democrats will join the irreconcilable opponents of the Treaty and so prevent ratification. For the Democrats this course is unthinkable a.nd would ho an • unspeakable disgrace for ever afterwards."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable-Assn. RESERVATION REGARDING IRELAND RIDICULING THE MOTION. Washington, March 17. In order to complete the Peace Treaty, the Senate has. by 54 votes to 21, tabled a propo??.! declaring as a reservation that Britain ought to proclaim Ireland free. In order to show the ridiculousness of the Irish freedom motion, Senator .King, in the Senate, has offered motions providing for freedom for the Philippines and Porto Pico.—Aus.-N.Z. Crdlc Assn.
