ATTACKED BY MASKED MEN
1 ROTORUA RESIDENT INJURED. Bt Telegraph—Press Association. Rotorua, March 18. About one o'clock this morning Eobort Ravnor, aged sixty years, who is employed bv the Tourist Department, and who lives alone near the Postmaster Bath, was attacked by two masked men. The men knocked at the door asking for matches. Eaynor' refused to open the door, but opened a small -window and ulaced the matches within their reach. The men nenin. asked .him lo open firedoor, threatening to break it down if he refused. Ravnor armed, himself with a pick-handle, and said he would defend himself. One of the men threw a piec« of iron piping 6ix feet iu length through the onen window, nearly knocking Eaynor out. Thev further attempted to onen the door, and struck him on the forehead with a second piece of piping. Eavnor onened the door suddenly and got away, carrying a bag containing thirty ehillincs. One roan followed him, and he drouned the bag in the ti-tree, and staggered to a neighbouring house, the occunant. of which took him to the hospital. Nine stitches had to be put in is head. The bag was found empty. The robbers entered 1 Radnor's house, but took nothing awav.
