Giving evidence before the Naval Inv vestigation Committee, Admiral Sims declared that owing to the use of an out-of-date code, the' sailings of the United States transports early in the' war were known regiflqjriy in Berlin, and submarine attacks followed. The United States refused Allied aid for the convoys because the Navy Department felt that the national amour ijropre would be hurt by such a confession of tho inadequacy of the United States Na-jy.—Aus.-N.Z.
