Ltd.—Out of a total offering of 3550 hides, and calfskins our catalogue comprised an excellent selection of 1263, most of which were superior-con-ditioned hides. ■ A full bench of tanners and exporters, wcro present. Competition was exceptionally keen, tho result being a very substantial increase in nricss upon the sensational realisations of last Eale. A line of thirteen superior-conditioned ox hides of an avcrago weight of lOlb cnch made Jffld. per lb., and several lots of calf fetched 50d. per lb. ? Loan and Mercantile Agency Oompany.--Competition was very, keen for all sound lots, heavy hides sellinc at. about 2d. and calf about 3Jd. above last sales. Damaged and inferior lota were somewhat neglected. Local tanners did not operate very extensively, the bulk of-the being taken for shipment. We obtained sCid. for ft line of 66 51b. calfskins, top price of the sale. . _ Murray. Roberts nd Co., Ltd. Our catalogue totalled 400 hides and <*»slun«. supplies being rather smaller.than usual. There was'a laree attendance of buyers, including tanner's' representative, win bidding was very spirited. Tannerß availed themselves of their right to purchase only on lines of medium and medium to heavy ox. and the bulk of the rata ogue was bought for export. Prices for 11< os were approximately lid.
