ARBITRATION COURT
HOTEL WORKERS' AWARD. The Arbitration Court's award in tie Wellington district hotel, club, and restaurant workers' dispute has l>een' filed. It provides that the hours of work are not to exceed Gfl per week and 10 hours a day for males, and 43 per week ,and 8 per day for females. The hours are to be worked within a U-hours' margin. wliich shall be reckoned from the time of "tho starting. Except in special circumstances workers aro not to be brotfght back after their day's work is finished until an interval of at least ten hours lias elapsed. These hours shall be worked within six days in cvety week. Double rates are to be paid on Christmas Day, Good Friday, and the Sovereign's Birthday: time and a half on Labour Pay, Boxing Hay, and Easter Monday. A week's holiday on fulljiay is to be given in every year. Kitchen hands' wanes are fixed at £i Iss. for ohofs, down to 355. for other hands in case of mules, and «E3 Iss. to 30s. for females. Head waiters aro to receive ,E2 155., others £i los., and waitresses 255., maids 255.. laundresses 275. 6d., day porters 355., niarht porters 375. Gd., and pantrymen 32. fid. In addition there i6to be a bonus of ss. a week.
