The best man and groomsman were Messr?. ~H. Godfrey anil W. CriiiekshiUiks. both returned soldiers, as also is the bridegroom. There was a large number of relatives anil guests at the church, and afterwards, at the iecention which was held at the residence of llr. .and Mrs. Wood, at Woodside. Tho usual honohrs were -duly toasteit. The brido wore .white crepe do chine, ■ heavily embroidered iin bends and silk, and made, with georgette sleeves over luce. She carried a'...Jiouqnot of astors, sweet neas. .and maidenhair ferns, the veil worn 'was of Brussels net, embroidered bv her maid of honour, and was fastened with orange blossoms. Miss Martin-Leverson wore pink crepe do ehine. with touches of blue, and a black Dicturo hat. with streamers of blaclc velvet. She carricd a bouquet of b.ue hvdranseas. Miss Burling was in \])alo blue crepe de chine with touches of pink and carried a bouquet of pmk hydrasceas. while Miss Mnrjorio Wood wore white creoe deadline, embroidered in Dink and blue anil a wreath of roses and forget-me-nots. Mrs. AVood, niothcr oi the bride, woro-a tailored l'uu silk costume. with a grey and purple hat, and carried a bouquet of purple astors. Mrs. Burling, the mother of the groomsman, was in black .crepe'do chine, ■ with a ■ dove-co'.oured hat. The. bride gave the bridegroom a leather suit-ease, and.tlio latter' cave the bride a , gold wn. 3 «et watch'. The maid of honour and bridesmaid received gold bangles, and tho little flower-girl a gold cable bangle. Among the presents received by Mr. and Mrs. Burling was a motor-ear from tho bridegroom's mother. Later they lelt for -the north, the bride travelling in a raw blue costume and violet hat.

Y.W.C.A. Notes. " Mrs. D. 0. M'Oluy presided at a meeting of tho board of directors of the Y.W.C.A. on Thursday afternoon. Thirty-five new members were elected. Tho number-'on the'membership roll is now 1237. It was reported that the number of lunches and dinners served to busv business girls during February was 5200. and that the expressions of ap-urccin-tion from the skirls testified to the real need thero had been for Kiucheon rooms, with rest rooms attached. Reports were read from the education, religious work, entertainment and girls' department committees.. It was decided to alter the rule making'membership of the .association necessary for girls to join. a class or club, so that now girls who aro not members may join cla£ses or clubs 'by.paving the'fee-fixed. . • ' ■ The ''Y.W.C.A.- gymnasium class held at Hit, clubiobm at Herbert Street on AVednesdavs at- 7.30 ■ still has vacancies for members. It is realised that tho problem of acquiring. grace may bo., solved by keeping -in trim, and to this end a ijgries of breathing' exercises and organised ■games, are on :t,he programme for this year. 'A short service will be. held at tho -Y.W.C.A. elubrponi in Herbert Street tomorrow afternoon at 4 ; 15, when Canon' 11.I 1 . T. Tnvlor will be the speaker. The sing•ing will be bright and a trio will be sung bv three of the members. All women and girls, especially those who are strangers to the city, will be cordiallv wclconic'l to the service and to the tea follow--11!?. - ■.* There are still vacancies for more members in the elocution class held oil Wednesday evenings at the Y.W.C.A., under th 9 leadership of Mrs. Percy Woods. Intending members, 6hou'.d join now. On Tuesday evening tho girls' depart--ment had a rally of girls for the opening of the clubs and circles. Nearly a hundred girls . were present, and a very bright- evening was spent. Tho programme consisted of games, a Hawaian dance, and some musical items. Mrs. <Ta,vlor, president of the girls' department, was present, also Miss Hardie, girls'" department secretary, of Christfhurcli. who is on her way to Melbourne to further her knowledge of girls' work, and who snoke to tho girls about, the hearth fires. Later, supper was handkjd l-ound.

ICirker, of Salamanca Bond, Ivelburn, to Mr. Kenneth Elton Shorney, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Shorney, oi Hatnitai took place at St. Andrew's) Church, the Terrace, on Tuesday last. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming fiock of white ■ Georgette , underlined -with shell pink satin, with court, train trimmed with deep silk frinso and embroidered with tiny pink rosebuds. Her veil was worp wreathed with, orange • blossoms and tiny pink roses, anrl she carried a bouquet to match. Tho bridegroom's present to tho ' bride was a iold cabled wristlet watch. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Marjorv Stuart, woro apricot georgette, with heliotrope trimmings, and hat to match. Miss Tui 'Thirker, sister of the brido, wore white, and a leehorn hat with heliotrope trimmings. Tho best man was Mr. W. Thirker, brother of tho bride. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. Eliott and the Rev. Robertson Oit. The recentior. was held at the residence of the bride's parents. Later, Mr. and 'Mrs. Show lelt for the south, the brido -travelling in a, grey cloth costume with furs and hat, to match.
