Imlay on February 21 a member of N tlie Victoria team is alleged to have struck one of the umpires (a visitor from Dunedin) bo hard as to knock him out for an hour or two. The matter was discussed last ■week by the executive, which decided to take no action after a motion to suspend both the players and tho umpire (for the latter was alleged to have given provocation) had been defeated by one vote.

Certain cricketers who are indignant at l the decision convened a meeting, and the meeting, as reported above, demanded that tho executive resign.
