After to-dny's meeting of- the Christchurch Presbytery, ft conference, was helu to consider the situation which has nrisen owing to the high rate of exchange between New Zealand and India and China. It was explained that the total contributions to the Indian and Chinese missions had now lo bo approximately JSOOO larger than before Hie exchange rate went up, and the conference was called to consider ways and means of collecting this extra amount, so. that foreign mission work should not he short of funds. A committee set up to denl with tho matter recommended that a sum he collected equivalent to 7s. fid; from eacli church member. Every church should make up its foreign mission contribution to this amount, which would cover the deficiency caused by the loss in. exchange.
