Alexandra Home. The monthly meeting of the committco of the Alexandra Homo was hid on Monday. Those present were: Mrs. Gill (in the chair), Mesdames Buxton. Ifichardson; Porter, Puttie, Corkill, Corrignn, Jiardwick-Snnth, and Tripe. Accounts amounting to XCS Gs. 9d. were passed for payment, and donations of .£3B 2s. 4d. wero acknowledged with thanks. The following are further subscriptions to the Greenwood Memorial:—Nurse Davidson, iSli Mr. Charles Smith, il; Joseph Nathnn and Co., .CIO. Miss Stewart was appointed manager and treasurer to the home. The' matron reported that there were 17 adults and 14 infants at present in the home, and that 10 district eases had been attended. Old linen is much needed, and contributions of linen or clothing for the babies would be thank-, fully received. Wellington Boys' Institute. There was a large attendance at the meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the .Boys' Institute, held this week. The matron's report was considered satisfactory and all the boys were weljL After the treasurer's report had been read _ and adopted, ways and menus for raising money to bn.Vj linoleum for Hie bedrooms were discussed, and it was resolved to hold a jumble sale in the near future. The following officer:'- were elected:—Hon. president, Mrs. W. Sefton Moorhouse; president, Mrs. J. Hislop; vice-presidents, Mesdames M'Kerrow. Hamilton, and Christie; executive, Mesdames J. P. Luke, I'roup, Rose, Mooop, and Watkins; lion, j treasurer, Mrs. G. Bell; hon. secretary, Mrs. G. R. Brown; assistant secretary, Mrs, W. Parton. A special vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Parton for acting as secretary during the secretary's absence. Rifle Championship at Trentham. The firing off for the Champion Piflo I Belt at Trenthnni, on Wednesday afternoon, drew a large crowd of visitors from Wellington and surrounding district. The afternoon wns perfect, and the shooting of the competitors at IflW yards was watched with much interest Amongst the many Indies present were: Mrs. J, G. Coates, Airs. If. J. Collins; Mrs. John Barton/Mrs. T. J. King, Mrs, V. Donald and Mrs. Kemp. After the firing the' visitors, on the invitation of Colonel 1?. J. Collins, C.M.G., chief executive office;', were entertained in the officers' mess at afternoon tea. The presentation of prizes took place subsequently. Mrs. Coates. at the. request of Colonel. Collins, handing to thg winners tho various trophies.
