HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING. The'monthly meeting of the Hutt County Council was held yesterday. Councillor F. G. Cooper (chairman) presided, and thero were present—Councillors j. Whiteuiau, \V. Galloway, M. W. Welch, W. J. Howell, and P. Cavannch. Tlie tender of D. Galloway for 1000 yards of rock quarryiiiß at l'ahautanui was accepted. The financial statement showed that thero was an overdraft of i 3999 Us. lfld. It was decided on the motion ot. Councillor Galloway, to have a statement of thel running expenses of the plant and machinery tabled at next nicotine of the council. A lettor was received -from the Post and Telegraph Department drawing tho attention of the council to the fact that the work was being executed on the main road to Paekakariki was endanserins tho main telegraph line. It was decided to write to' the Department requesting the removal of tho telegraph line to a eater positipn. - . A report on the proposed Paekakariki water supply was received from Mr. G. Laing-Meason, and it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the ratepayers. The AVellington City Council wrote asking the Hutt Council to pay a sum
of ,£122 2s. 9d., due for maintenance of the Hutt Koad. It was decided to postpone payment until the work was • carried out. Accounts to the amount of .£1689 os. Bd. were passed for payment.
