THE REGATTA
PROGRAMME FOR EASTER MEETING. After a lapse of five years, the Wellington Rowing Association is to resume holding its regatta. Tho programme consists of eleven events, carrying a total prize money of ,£125. The races which make up the programme are:— Senior fours, double sculls, pairs and sculls, junior fours and pairs, maiden fours, double sculls and pairs, and youths' fours and double sculls. In tho allocation of prize money to the various events the association has kept the prizes for maiden and youths' events comparatively high, .with a vieiy to encouraging tls clubs to send their younger onmnon to the regatta. The Pearce Cup will ho awarded; as usual, to be held for a year by l the winiier of the senior sculls. The last winnor was Itadfield. whom the local men 'bono to see here again at Easter in competition for "it. Visitors to tho Wanganui Regatta express the opinion that Sharpe (whom Hadfield defeated in the Champion Sculls of New Zealand at AVanganui recently) is very likely to como south to meet the champion again STAR. BOATING . CLUB. ' The club's crewS for tho regatta, as picked to date, are as follow -.— Senior Pairs.—W. R. C. Oswin and W. S. Wheeler. ; Maiden Fours.—No, I crew: R. N. Wakelin, G. Stott, W. E. Coate, and W. P. Shorlaml; No. 2 crew: W, S. M'Go\van,"E. Emerson, F. M. H. Hanson, and W. T. Nelson. Maiden Double Sculls (two crews).—C. H- Mitchell and It. J. Pollock; W. A. Montgomery and W. F. Marris. Youths' Fours.—E. Diehl, F. G. Oborn, F. 11. Brown, and W. P. Robb. Youths' Double Sculls—E. Diehl and F. G. Oborn. ' The club means to row two crews in each of tho maiden events, but it is not yet decided which of the double-sculling crows shall be "No. 1 crow."
