A lißhtixing strike at two days' notice i.fittireatened bv 175,000 transport workers to enforce a demand for an extra 10s. weekly. The joint-committee of road transport and industry considered the demand, and was unable to agree, so t.lie National Transport Workers' Federation determined on an immediate strike if the federated societies were willing. The action involves the holding up of docks and railways. The last advance of 4s. given in August was to bring the waes to Sjjis. above tho pre-war figure.
