Sisnor Ferraris, Minister of Commerce, exnjains that the resumption of rationins; and'the drastic restriction of food imports to Italy, is intended to prevent an economic crisis, resulting in a catastrophe. 'Everyone -was preaching economy, but none, practising it. The Government. was determined to suppress unnecessary expenditure, enforce the cultivation of land, and substitute lignite, which was obtainable in Italy, for im-Dortedcoal.—Aus.'-N.Z. CabhiAssn.
