Np APPEALS PROPOSED. The announcement of the official result nf tho licensing poll in Thursday's Gazette has closed the liquor fitrhfc for the present. Certain irregnlnritiw in councction with the polls in various districts have'been alleged, but the New Zealand Allianco has decided not to-lodge appeals. The total number of votes recorded ar the licensing poll was 543,702, so that ths number of votes required to carry an issue was 271,882. The Prohibition total, 270,250, fell short of the requisite absolute majority by 1632. In other words, if 1(532 of the electors who voted for Continuance or State Control had supported tho other issue, Prohibition would have been carried.
