ATHENIO FROM LONDON. The Shaw-Savill liner Athcnic arrived yesterday from London, after an excellent voyage, via Panama. The vessel was delayed a week at Newport News on account of a shortage ot coal. On passing through the' canal the residents at I'edro Miguel locks sent on board largo quantities of fruit and reading material. Colonel Collins, chairman of tli6 sports committee, returned thanks by means of a' wireless message on behalf of those on board. AUCKLAND CAE GO. The "Kittawa is to replace the Waitomo on the Auckland loading berth. The vessel will reccivo a portiou of the cargo offering to-day, and the balance on Monday, and is at present fixed to sail on Monday evening. Any cargo this vessel Is unable'to load will be accommodated on the Monowai, which is to sail towards the end of next week. ■
TARAWERA FOR SYDNEY. ' This afternoon the Tarawera is to leave Dunedin for Wellington direct. At, rresent she is fixed to sail on Monday night for Sydney direct.
NIAGARA AT AUCKLAND. The R.M.S. Niagara arrived at Auckland from Sydney at 6 o'clock yesterday morning. She is fixed to sail for Vancouver at 5 o'clock on Monday.
SHORTAGE OP. FIREMEN. The departure ot till! for ■Wellington from Lyttclton has been delayed owing to a shortage of firemen. Efforts were 1 made yesterday to secure the necessary complement, . and tho Union Company hope to have the vessel here some time to-day. If.-t?oßsible the vessel will Bail this evening for New Plymouth.
MANUKA FROM SYDNEY. At 1 p.m.. on Thursday last the Manuka left. Sydney for Wellington direct. She is bringing 390 passengers and 1230 tons of general cargo. The vessel iB due on Monday and will sail on Tuesday for Lyttelton, rcturniug -ajain on Thursday in time to sail at S p.m. for Sydney and Hohart..
TAHITI TO BELIEVE MAKUEA. , The Auckland office of the Union Stcain Ship Company has received advice that the Tahiti, which is being converted into an oil burner at San Francisco, will very probably take the May-Jur.e trip in tho Sydney-Auckland-Vancouver service in place of the Makura. It Is understood that dtiring the 'time she Is out of commission the Makura will be converted into an oil burner. j THE HINEMOA. Tho Hinemoa. went, out to the Cook Strait lighthouses again on Thursday afternoon.
