COLONIAL SUGAR COMPANY KETTJBNING TO SIiAIiEtTOLDETIS PART OF CAPITAL, Sydney, March 1. A circular has been issued by tho Colonial Sujar Company of Australia calling a special, meeting of shareholders to consider a, proposal to return to the shareholders a part of their capital. The circular explains thai during tho war tho company subscribed considerable sums for warloans. It Sb now necessary to decide what action should be taken with regard to the money thuu withdrawn from 1 usincsa. Under normal condition* a, la rue proportion of the money would bo required for cxtensionH and renewals in tho Queenslaud mills, but tho political position in that Stato renders each expenditure impossible. Besides, funds are already available'when the outlook is more stable. The board ha.s therefore decided to advise that £650,000 worth of debentures be divided amoTiir the elmrcholdcrs as a returned part of the paid-up capital of the comnany. The division will bo at ihe rate of £4 for each £20 share.—Press Assn.
