Tho weather was fine and warm, and tliero was a splendid attendance for the first day of the Victoria Facing- Club's Autumn Meeting. Tullilnh pulled up at the first jump in the Pines Hurdles. Angleform had four lengths' lead in tho early stages, but he fell at the last hurdle. Tharnock just won from Coronatns, who was it bad last for eleven furlong's. J. Curr trains the winner. The St. Leger prived an onsy thing for Artilleryman. Whiz Bang finished wide, but dead heated for second place. Artilleryman has now won nearly 1(5,000 sovs. in stakes. The Newmarket wont to an outsider in Red Dome, who led for. the ' last furlong, and won well from Gambler's Gold and Cetigne, who was always well up and ran a good third. The favourite Chrysolaus was seventh. Red Dome is trained by Fred. Foulsham, of Caulficld, and owuod by a Melbourne boot manufacturer, and was ridden ,by the Newcastlo jockey, J. Mahoney. Hand appeared to meet trouble when well inside the distance. The first prize in the race was worth ,£2527. Red Dome cost 350 guineas last season. Gossine Hatan got a run on the rails in the Sires' Produce Stakes, and won well from t.lio eaTly leader, Glonacre, in lmin. 29sec. The racu was run over seven furlongs for the first, time. Gossine Hatan is now the 1920 Derby favourite. Cetigno was cheered loudly for his win in tho Essendon Stokes. He is now within measurable distance of equalling Carbine's stake record.
