Public Service Board of Appeal heard appeals by local public servants vesterday and this morning, and left for Wnnganui this afternoon, TAINUI DISASTER (, — TUB CHARGES OF NEGLIGENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, February 29. When.the ease for the Marine Department closed to-day in the Magistrate's Court in the charge of negligence arising out of the Tainui disaster, Mr. Donnelly, wh'o appeared for the. Marine Department. said that he did not intend to call additional evidence in connection with the charge against Frederick William Partridge (Christchurch manager of the Vacuum Oil Co.). Mr. Myers (who appeared for Partridge) said that he intended to apply on Monday for dismissal of the charge against his client, on the ground that there was not a word of evidence against him. There was not even sufficient evidence to warrant the laying of the charge against Partridge. The Magistrate remarked that there did not. seem to l>o any evidenco against Partridge. The case was adjourned till Monday. .
