DROWNED IN HUTT RIVER
The body of Hector of Waiwotit Lower Hutt, who wis drowned in tlu\ Hutt Eiver near the Pipe Bridge on Tuesday evening, was recovered by a party near the scene of the accident about 11.30 yesterday morning. Last evening Mr.- J. Poarce.. J.P.. and n jury of four, hold an inquiry at tho house of ■ deceased's parents into the circumstances attending the accident. The evidence showed that Gwillinms and two companions—W. Burnskey, aged IB years, and E. Pilchcr, aged 15 yearswere cruising lo and fro.across tho river onposito tho wool-scouring works in a canoe. While malting a turn tho craft listed, taking in a quantity of water and throwing the occupants into the river. I'ilcher swam to the bank, but when Huruskoy was in the act of striking- out, deceased' grabbed his left arm and draped him under. ' The jurv found that deceased was accidentally lli-owned by this swamping of the canoe.
