NORTH AND SOUTH EXPECTED TO REACH AGREEMENT

Tho New York "Times" correspondent at Washington reports that it is expected that a virtual agreement will be reached bnlween North and South China. A final conference for the settlement of difficulties will probably 1m held at Shanghai shortly. It is understood that both the Peking and Canton Parliaments will dissolve; that a new Parliament, which will sit at Peking, will be circled; and that the Vice-Presidency of China will lie filled bv the election of a Southern leader. .Demobilisation of a large part, of the forces will also bo carried out—Aus.-N.Z. Cabin Assn. I'A message published on Thursday stated: "A British, American, French, and Japanese Memorandum has been sent to the Chinese Foreign Office, statins that in view of the urgent requirements of tho Chinese Government, these Governments are prepared to recommend their banks to issue a loan of Ji5.000.000 on secured specified revenue, on condition: (1) That North and South China resumo peace negotiations forthwith. (21 That portion of tho proceeds bo used in the disbandment of unnecessary troops. (I)) That the four Allied Governments nntl the .banking groups cffecitivelv supervise tho application <>f the proceeds of the loan and/the disbandments."l
