Eminently satisfactory progress is being made b.v Dr. A. K. Newman, M.P. for Wellington liast, who recently underwent an operation at the Bowen Street Hospital, lieferenco to the health of Dr.Newman, who is president of the Wellington Pugbv Football Union, is made in the annual" report of the union. "Your president, Dr. A. K. Newman, M.P., has recently been laid aside by a serious illness," states the report. "1 he geniality nnd kindness of this stalwart supporter of Ponekc—the champion club—and your union <ue well known, and every follower of the game will look forward earnestly to his complete restoration, to health."
Pastor M. W. P. 1/iscelles, at present stationed at the Island Bay Baptist Church, has accepted an invitation to the Napier Baptist Church, and will take up his new duties at the end of March. The Mayor of Eastbourne (Mr. F. H. Mather) lias been indisposed for some days past, but he is now progressing satisfactorily.
Mr. Walter Monk hns arrived in Wellington to make advance arrangements for" a return season of Miss. Daisy Kennedy.
Mr J. F Hay. w!l ° is ono of the cW l f members of the Vacuum Oil Company b lubricating department for Australasia, arrived in Wellington on Saturday from Melbourne, via Auckland. Mr. Hay, who is a sou of llio late Mr. P. S. Hay, of the Public Works Department, was on the staff of the company at Wellington before ho proceeded to Melbourne.
Mr .T' M Cain 3, of the Chief Accountant's'offico of the Railways Department, received a presentation from his fellowofiiccrs Inst week, on tho occasion ot his approaching marriage. Mr A. S. Wilson, of Perth, Western Australia, who was recently appointed general secretary to the Auckland YMC.A.. arrived by tho Maheno last week, no is accompanied by Mrs. Wilson and their son.
