LAST WEEK'S CONFERENCE. An official report of the conference arranged by the Board of Agriculture to discuss questions relating to the meat export trade and shipping, stnt.es that its sittings extended, over two days. • The conference was representative of all parts of the Dominion, including delegates selected by freezing companies, and dairy companies, and producers' delegates invited by the board. Its discussions dealt with some most important points, and the conclusions arrived at will ho of special value when the larger meeting of producers and allied interests is called by the board at tho request of the Prime Minister in the very near future. Among the matters specially dealt with wero future shipping conditions, the suggested extension of the meat commandeer, tho nresent critical position in connection wi'th New Zealand meat in Great Britain, and the serious delays in shipping resulting therefrom, tho present shortage of' shipning in New Zealand, and the vorv serious 'congestion of storage in the 'Dominion which is Tapidly cominif about. In connection with this, special reference was made to the-number of steamers which have been loading in Australia, since the Now Year as com-, pared with those loading in. New. Zealand, having special regard to the quantities of meat waiting to be lifted in the two countries; also to the apparently favoured treatment given to fresh and frozen moat from other countries in the matter of mrick discharge, at British ports. After the conclusion of tho meriting the board., together with the dele.rntes which had attended, met the Prime Minister and acquainted him with the result? of their deliberations.
