Manuka Park was running second, and Partner was lying handy and nun-nip conlidontly. Lord Pose was also going steadily. Emperor now made ft forward move, and Partner took rnmmind half a mile from home. Emperor challenged tho lender, and was running feennd as the field swept into the straight, but. he was unftblo to sustain his run, and Lord Pose, coming with ft fine dash, deprived Emperor of second place, but could not get up to Partner, who won by about a length. There wero eight starters in the President's Handicap, Emperor being ft hot favourite., When the field settled Nancy Patch was in front, and with half a i milo gone, tho order was Nancy Patch, ' Trooper Dillon, and Emperor, tho latter
running exceptionally! well. Emperor took command coming into the straight, with Gold Girl coming at a great pace from the back.
