MEETING OP COUNCIL. Th 6 monthly meeting of the Enstbourno Borough Council was held on Friday, Councillor H. G. Mayer presiding. There were also present:—Councillors) It. Black, F. S. Fisher. C. L. Green. R. E. Mauley, and T. W. F. Marsdon. A letter was received from tho Central Progress League asking the council to join the league-It was decided to ask for further particulars of tho scheme. In connection with the council's ap-1 plication for a direct telephone service after closing hours, a deputation was appointed to wait on tho officer in chareo with ft view of obtaining early relief. The deputation consists of tha Mayor (Mr. F. It. Mather) and Councillors Maniev, Marsdon, Fisher, and Mayer. The following accounts were passed for payment:—District fund account, .£332 12*. 10d.; ferry account, .£2253 10s. 9(1. The statement of, ferry traffic receipts for tho ten months ended January 31 showed an increase of .C3IOS ss. sd. oyer tho figures for the corresponding period ' of the previous year. Tho current balance in tho is J.'lGs4 3s. 2d. and .U3005 has been placed on fixed deposit. Jt was decided that in future- no boat will be delayed for any -purposo beyond the specified sailing time.
