LICENSED VICTUALLERS
CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTON. A conference of representatives of the New Zealand Licensed Victuallers' Association was held in AVollington last week. Mr. P. J. Griffin, chairman of the Wellington Licensed Victuallers' Association, was in the chair. The following officers were "elected:— Piesident, Mr. P. J. Griffin; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. J. Sutton (Christchuroh) t.nd P. Brodie (Auckland); general executive committee, Messrs. W. Devine (Palmerston North), W. J. Coughlin (Dunedin), S. Gibbons (Martoii), J. M'Donald (Wellington). B. M'Carthy (Dannevirke), C. Aldridge (Wellington), It. Dwycr (Wellington), ,T. Murphv (Timaru), T. Gormley (Taranaki), G. Whittle (Taranaki).. J. O'Brien J. Hinchy (Bluff), Stapleton (Grey mouth), Baigent- (Nelson), Limbrick (Marlbarough), Freeman (Manawatu), J. R. Foster (Wanganui). Quirk (Taihape), Hill ((Napier), George Gillies (Gisborne), Bellow., (Waipawa), "Walsh (Auckland), Brown'(Tauranga), Molloy (Auckland), and Griffin (AnAland): secretary and treasurer (pro. tem.), Mr. F. ,T. Oa'kos (Wellington)!; lion, solicitor, Mr, J. J. M'Grath. - An official report covering the proceedings was issued, stating that matters of Tital interest to the retail trade were fully discussed at the lengthy sessions of the conference. The general tone of the meeting was one of desire to clean | up fill laxities attendant on the retail license trade of the Dominion, for which some vigorous measures were recommendfd for adoption by the various provincial councils.
