SITUATIONS VACANT. AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GIRLS. MOWADAYS everyone wants to earn money; it is in many cases an urgent necessity, since it is not easy to live to-day on small incomes or allowances, und to the girl with clever fingers, who usually makes her own clothes, a unique opportunity is offered by Kirkcaldie and Stains Limited. As everyone knows, the Prince of Wales will'soon be visiting our shores, and there will be gaieties of nil kinds in his honour, and especially dances, for not only His Royal Highness, but his Suite, ond the officers of the Renown will bo much entertained, and for this we shall all want frocks, ball dresses, and day dresses. When the present King visited these shores every woman almost had a new ball gown, and to-day there will be many more wanting frocks suitable to do honour to his son. Kirkcaldie and Stains supplied many hundreds of gowns for that past occasion, while for the various Jellieoe functions throughout New Zealand they made no fewer than fiOfl evening gowns. For the Prince of Wales's visit they anticipate many morn orders than this, but to fulfil them they must hhve the workers. And here is where the opportunity comes for any girls with a taste for sewing to earn nnything from ,£3 a week in the bright., airy rooms at Kirkcaldie and Stains's workrooms, which the Labour Department has pronounced the finest in the Dominion. Many girls are diffident in applying, thinking a certificate of so many years' training is necessarv, but that is not the case. Nowadays it is found that the girl with a natural taste fcr dressmaking or millinery is 'better at the job in many cases than the girl who serves an unwilling apprenticeship. So many girls "fix up" their own clothes, and look as well as their neighbours, and these- arc the girls to whom good wages are offered by Kirkcaldie and Stains if they will come along and help in the workrooms. To the "born" 'dressmaker—and there is "such a thing—the work is most interesting, for the days when sho had to make perhaps 6lecves and nothing but sleeves have gone by, and nowadays she has the opportunity of seeing the result of her lalwnr as a finished work of art, which many gowns are. Moreover, the experience to the girl with ft little knowledge of. dressmaking would be invaluable: she will see much, and can learn all she wants to if 6he is sufficiently keen. Quite recently, Kirkcaldie and Stains asked for girls who could do dainty ueedlcwork, without previous experience, and now a number of girls are earning good money making the dainty articles of neckwear, etc., which are so much worn. An example is that of one girl who mado_ silk roses rather .well, and was given this work to do. Now she never makes less, than i's a week making the silk and satin flowers which make such a finish to a frock. There is no reason why many girls, equally without previous professional experience. should not do the same, at dressmaking if they will apply to Kirkcaldie and Stains Limited. PATENTS.
