' SUCCESSFUL WELLINGTON COMPANIES. Teams from several Wellington companies of tho Senior Cadets scored a number of successes at the competitions held at l'almerston North show grounds last week, Tho Wellington Technical College "A" team gave a very fine exhibition, both in squad and physical drill, and won both competitions. Jvo. 32 Company (Thorndon) won tho Tifle exercises event. . , • Tho results of the competitions are as follow Squad drill: Wellington Technical College "A" team, 1118 points; Wellington South, 185; Thorndon, 183; Wellington Technical College "B" team, 180; Wellington City, 179; P. and T. Company, 173. Rifle exercises: Thorndon, 8G points; Wellington City, 79; Wellington Tcchnic.il College "A" team, 75; Wellington South, 75; P. and T. Company, 69; AVellington Technical College "B" team, GO. Physical drill: Wellington Technical College "A" team, 97; Wellington City, 83; Thorndon, SO; Wellington South, ~it \ I', and T. Company, 65; Wellington Technical College "B" team, 55. Tug-of-war: Wellington South, (M) 1; Thorndon IX2) 2. Tho aggregate points obtained were: Wellington Technical Collego "A" team, 370; Wellington South, 358; Thorndon, 310; Wellington City, 311; P. and T. Company, 307; Wellington Technical College "B" team, 205. In forwarding the results to the officer commanding No. 5 group, Lieut.-Colonel W. L. 11. Burgess, staff officer for the Wellington district, remarked: "I have Tnucli pleasure in congratulating you on tho excellent allowing put tip by your Cadets, who gave a very fine exhibition of tho results that can be obtained by careful and judicious training." Tho officers commanding the successful companies have been congratulated by Captain \V. 11. Bell, officer commanding No. 5 group, who, in tho cour.w of his letter of commendation, said: "I recognise that company officers and n.c.o.'s deserve every credit for the excellent performance put up at Palmevston North; but I also know that the. instructors deserve groat credit, not only for training, but particularly for arousing enthusiasm and aiding the Cadets. I am sure tho officer commanding tho district would wish mo to congratulate you. I also do so on behalf of tho group in general."
