The Fentherston County Council is favourable to the re-erection of the Tuhitarata (Kahularaj) bridge on tho old site, and a special rating area will be created for the purpose of meeting the estimated cost—,£ll,ooo. A strong deputation waited on the council at it- recent monthly meeting in support of the proposition, and it is hoped to arrango the necessary detail without any delay, tho bridge being of specinl concern to Lower Valley settlers. At yesterday's meeting of tho Claims Board of the Wairarapa Patriotic Association, a loan of J112.1 was granted for the mirehii.se of a dwelling and one loan for tlie same purpose was referred to a kindred society. It was decided to pay the first half-year's rent on behalf of a soldier who had taken up Government land. Six claims for temporary relief were dealt with.

Visitors Hocked to Masterton from all parts yesterday, and accommodation was taxed to the utmost. So far there is evcrv indication that the weather will be fine for the two days of tho show. Under ihe auspices of the Farmers' Union, a meeting of those interested in th? meat and shipping problem will be held on the Masterton showgrounds on Wednesday. Addresses will be given by Messrs A D. M'Leml, M.P., and J. C. Cooper (Wellington Farmers' Meat Co.).
