A War Office communique states:—ln the neighbourhood of the Tsaritsin-Eka-tirinodar railway tho Bolsheviks obtained a footing on tho south bank of the Manich. Six attempts to crosa elsewhere were repulsed. Between January 2S and .11 Denikin's troops on this front captured nine guns, 2GO machine-guns, and 4000 prisoners. The Bolsheviks occupied the Isthmuses of Perekop and Chongar, leading to tho Crimea, after heavy fighting, but were repulsed betorc the defiles, losing COO prisoners.
