TWO DEATHS AT CHRISTCHURCH ,By Telccrajh—Press Association." Christchurch, February 7. Two middle-aged men died from ineumonic inliuenza in the Chrislchurch Ilosp'tal yesterday. Both nod been inmates i'or less thiui ,1 week, tusil both were ill a serious condition when admitted.. To-day there ore five ensas of severe and live of milder inlluen/.a in the hospital. A reporter who npnwiched Dr. W. Fox (medical superintendent of Ilia Christchurch Hospital) 10-dav, was informed that the cases ''uing received at that institution were of the wmc type n« those met with in the epidemic of November, 1913. There are, . however, many grades of that tyjfl, and generally the disease is not so severe in its Jiaturo this time.
The Eastbourne Emergency Hospital Committee, which so successfully combated the outbreak of inliuenza Inst year, hap. kept a watchful eye on the possibility of a recrudes:enee- of the c-pi domic. Conferences were .held during the past week, aiul a joint meeting lias ' een arranged at which the committee will confer with the Borough Council, in order that co-ordinate action may bo taken promptly should ocasion arise. A largo number of cases were dealt with bv the committee at the last outbreak, aiid fortunately no deaths were recorded in the d'strict.
