Sir William Fraser, Minister of Publio'Works iiucl Mines, will.arrive in Wellinston on Sunday. The Rev. H. van Staveren is at present on an official visit to Motucka. Mr. L). S. Thompson, the Wellington branch accountant, presented Mr. and Mrs. Cnllender with a silver afternoon tea service. Mr. Thompson referred in Mr. Calender's long, zealous and successful career in tho bonk, and mentioned particularly his efforts for the betterment of the staff. Mr. Cnllender feelingly replied. Mr. K.'N. IC. Swanston, who'has been appointed acting-manager of tho Christnhuroh branch of the Bank of Australasia, was met by a number of local tennis plavers last evening, who made him a presentation'. The presentation was made hv Mr. IT. M. Gore, on behalf of the Mnnasemont. Committee of tho Wellington T'ennii Association, and old tennis" nlayers. Mr.,Swanston was to iiavo left by'tho Maori. On Tuesday everifhg last a very enjernble social was tendered bv the vestry and choir of St. Alban's Church. Eastbourne, to Mr. W. It. C. Macplicrson, who lias ibeen organist at the church tor the past seven years, and who.lias been transferred to Wanganui. Several musical items were rendered, and after rcfrcsments were banded round Mr. Macpherson was presented with a calf pocket wallet, as a memento of his past services io the ehurcli.
