At the Supremo Court to-day A. C. T. Lnmb who was acquitted yesterday on a charce of theft of .£l6O worth of drapery from his employer, was brought up for sentence on a charge of breaking gaol whilst awaiting trial. He had pleaded guilty. Mr. Justice Hcrdmnn pointed out that the charge was wrongly laid, as it alleged that the. offence wn» committed "while serving a term of imprisonment," whereas he had not been committed for d terra. The- Crown Prosecutor agreed on His Honour's suggestion that the case be adjourned until next session, for a fresh charge to be. laid. Accused was allowed his own bail of .£IOO. Maw I. Francis was granted a decree nisi against Polio Francis on tho ground of desertion. Petitioner was given cuslodv of two children. In Die case of M. Straus v. Strang a decree nisi was made Absolute. The co-respondent paid in £500 damages. .£IOO to go to the husband, petitioner, and JMflO to the Public. Trustee for tho benefit of a child which was left with the mother in tho meantime.
